Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE)
We actively engage LBQ individuals in climate action through ACE. We provide climate literacy programs, training sessions, and awareness campaigns specifically designed to empower LBQ communities with knowledge and skills to be able to participate in climate-related decision-making. Our national and international collaborations amplify LBQ voices and emphasize the urgency of climate action.
Increasing Climate Change Awareness among LBQ individuals in Kenya.
We strive to promote climate literacy and raise awareness among LBQ communities in Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Kisumu Counties. Participants are educated about the interconnections between climate change and LBQ issues, underscoring how climate change can worsen existing inequalities and discrimination.
Climate change awareness is crucial for LBQ communities in Kenya due to several reasons. Firstly, climate change disproportionately affects vulnerable communities, including LBQ persons. By raising awareness, LBQ individuals can understand the specific risks they face and take informed actions to adapt. Secondly, fostering climate consciousness within the LBQ community promotes collective action. When LBQ individuals recognize their role in environmental stewardship, they can advocate for sustainable practices, influence policies, and participate in climate resilience efforts. Lastly, climate change intersects with social justice issues, including LGBTQ+ rights. By integrating climate awareness into LBQ advocacy, we create a more inclusive and resilient society that prioritizes both environmental and human well-being.
